Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 8 joins the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 in awarding the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) to LGUs during the Eastern Visayas Stakeholdersβ Congress on Social Welfare and Development on November 23, 2023, at the Summit Hotel, Tacloban City.
LGUs passing the CFLG Audit receive the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) from the Council for the Welfare of Children. This seal is a prerequisite for both the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) and the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC).
The said LGUs were assessed using the indicators categorized under the five core rights of children, namely: Survival, Development, Protection, Participation, and Governance.
43 LGUs were CFLGA passers in 2019, while there were 42 LGU passers in 2021. The following is the list of passers for 2019 and 2021:

DILG Region 8 Assistant Regional Director Atty. Darwin Bibar joined the awarding event together with different DILG Provincial and City Directors, and Focal Officers in the region. Alongside DSWD FO8 Officials Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) Clarito T. Logronio, Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO) Natividad G. Sequito, and Undersecretary of National Household Targeting System (NHTS) Marites Maristella.
CFLGA was introduced in 2014 through MC No. 2014-80 in collaboration with the DILG and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC). This serves as a result-based assessment tool for Local Government Units (LGUs) to measure their performance in implementing programs that enhance the welfare of children.
