Recreation has become an important element in modern life that provides pleasures for millions of people and it may also an important contribution to an individual’s mental and physical health. In which, basically the municipality of Quinapondan has no facility for outdoor that make way for the thereapeutic leisure and visual elements of softscape, lightings and fountain with unique architectural design. Taking into consideration of the desire of Quinapondananon, the town of Quinapondan, Eastern Samar unveiled its newest pride and joy – the Quinapondan Public Park with stunning water feature, softscape and lightings. The grand opening, which took place on September 7, 2023 during the LGU Night Celebration featuring Search for Miss Quinapondan, was marked by an impressive unique architectural design, a modern recreational facility of the municipality designed by our very own Quinapondananon, Ms. Laarni Anano.
The Quinapondan Public Park promises to be a hub of recreation and relaxation for residents and visitors alike. Situated in the heart of the town – in front of the Municipal Building, the park is established for the community to enjoy and satisfy during free time without travelling to other places. The centerpiece of the park is undoubtedly the majestic water fountain, a dazzling display of lights and water jets that dance in harmony to create a visual spectacle. The fountain’s design pays homage to the rich cultural and natural heritage of Quinapondan, with elements inspired by the town’s coastal beauty and vibrant traditions. The said project is also a better deal for tourist especially that Quinapondan is midway to the city if Borongan and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Quinapondan’s journey to the creation of this public park has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2022, the town received the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award, making it the lone awardee in the entire province of Eastern Samar. The accomplishment was recognized with an incentive of 5 million pesos, which played a pivotal role in funding the development of the Quinapondan Public Park. The project was started on June 12, 2023 and completed at September 8, 2023. The project shape symbolizes as “Lawagan”, a famous kind of fishing vessel at Brgy. Sto. Niño in Quinapondan that carries the net to catch different species of fish.
The Quinapondan Public Park is expected to become a hub for community events, cultural celebrations, and a cherished space for residents to connect with nature. The park’s opening signals a positive step forward for Quinapondan, showcasing the town’s commitment to creating a vibrant and sustainable environment for its residents.
As the night sky above Quinapondan was illuminated with the glow of the water fountain and the laughter of the community echoed through the park, it marked the beginning of a new era for this town—a chapter defined by unity, progress, and the beauty of shared spaces.
