Visayas State University and LGU-Quinapondan Collaborate for Sustainable Rehabilitation Project

In a groundbreaking move towards environmental conservation, the Local Government Unit of Quinapondan has initiated a transformative project in collaboration with Visayas State University (VSU). The project focuses on the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Culalapnitan Watershed Area and the development of the Sagkaray Eco-Park using innovative Rainforestation Technology. The driving force behind the project is the dynamic leadership of the Municipal Mayor Atty. Rafael S. Asebias, who has been instrumental in providing unwavering support to the cause.

Quiwasa Supervisor, Mrs. Liza Ogsimer, MENRO Engr. Felix John Bianes and staff Mr. Christopher Quiza, and Marilou Patrimonio from the Municipal Tourism Office have played pivotal roles in the early stages of planning and development. Their collective efforts underscore the commitment of the local government to sustainable and eco-friendly projects.

Acknowledging the collaboration, LGU-Quinapondan extends gratitude to the welcoming and accommodating team at Visayas State University, including former president Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, OIC Office of the President resident Dr. Daniel Leslie S. Tan, and the energetic director of the Biodiversity Center, Mr. Marlito M. Bande. The project also benefited from the expertise of Science Research Assistant Mr. Leonardo Paolo Longatang, who served as a guide during site visits.

Engr. Jimmy O. Pogosa’s contributions to the team have been invaluable, as he shared insightful knowledge that will undoubtedly shape the success of the project. LGu-Quinapondan also expresses appreciation to Ms. Kleer Jeann Longatang, Ms. Angelita B. Orias, Ms. Serica Joy Compendio, Mr. Vicente A. Escasinas, Mr. Irvin Christian Seno, Mr. Fidelito M.
